The magazine
The printed magazine Teoria e Debate was created by the Regional Directorate of the Workers’ Party of São Paulo in 1987, and began to be published by the Perseu Abramo Foundation ten years later, reaffirming its national character, which had been evident practically since its first editions. Focusing on reflection and debate on topics relevant to the Brazilian and international left, as well as controversies in economics, society, and culture, the magazine maintained the plurality of opinions as a basic principle from its first issue.
Teoria e Debate is not (and never has been) academic or limited to initiates; it is (and always has been) formative, and as such takes into account the accumulated experiences within the PT, the debate of ideas, and the existence of differing opinion trends within the party.
Given the profound changes that the internet has brought to the publishing landscape, it was time to update the Teoria e Debate project, a successful editorial and political experience spanning more than two decades.
Currently, the channels for the circulation of information, as well as the construction of the daily agenda, pass through the internet. Newspapers and magazines dedicate themselves to producing content for the web, social networks, blogs, and websites raise issues, track and neutralize misinformation. In this universe, there is also room for formulation, analysis, debate, and reflection.
In 2011, by offering its content online, Teoria e Debate became a more accessible, agile, and dynamic tool, reaching its audience more efficiently.
The publication maintains the objective that has guided it for these 36 years, addressing the themes on the progressive agenda in depth and further stimulating debate, since the available tools allow for the participation and interaction of the readership.

Editorial policy
The Editorial Board of Teoria e Debate is the body responsible for defining the journal’s agenda.
Spontaneous contributions submitted to the editorial office for publication must be approved by the Board and follow the recommendations below.
1 – Texts must be unpublished in the country.
2 –Since Teoria e Debate is not an academic journal, the texts must combine in-depth reflection on the topics covered with simplicity in the exposition of the idea or proposal, so that a greater number of people have access to the reading.
3 –Texts should be between 8,000 and 20,000 characters long, including spaces. caracteres com espaço.
4 – Bibliographic references can be placed within the text (author’s last name, year, page) or at the end. Footnotes are intended for additional information or clarifications that cannot be included in the text.
5 –Since this is an online publication, websites, portals, and digital publications used as sources should be mentioned, and recommendations for further reading are welcome.
6 – The source of the data used must be specified.
7 – The author may suggest a title, which will be adjusted by the editors if necessary, taking into account the overall publication.
8 – The author’s qualification should not exceed 100 characters.r 100 caracteres.
