“This catalog presents the works published by the Perseu Abramo Foundation (FPA) publishing house, as well as publications carried out in partnership with or with the support of the FPA publishing house throughout its nearly three decades of existence. The editions presented here were mapped in a meticulous survey based on the current website of the Perseu Abramo Foundation, the old digital library, previous printed catalogs, and the physical collection and internal documents of the publishing house at the Foundation’s headquarters.
We chose to organize the works from the most recent – namely, the reissue of the book The Working Class Has Two Sexes, by Beth Lobo, as part of the celebration of the Foundation’s 28th anniversary and as part of the Nalu Faria collection – to the oldest. With the subtitle “From the present to the origins,” we want to highlight that the history of the publishing house is a living history, with new publications and reissues, reaffirming the relevance of all its production.
We mapped 454 works, of which 268 are already available in digital format. The publishing house’s production focuses on the areas of politics, economics, Communication, education, and philosophy, with some works of literature and biographies occurring less frequently. These areas encompass diverse themes such as Brazilian politics, Brazilian history, international politics, democracy, socialism, social movements, public policies, human rights, feminism, the Black movement, trade unionism, and memory.
